Mac Turns Eight!

This weekend we have been celebrating Mac turning eight! It doesn't seem that long ago that he was the little four-month old baby we met in the hospital in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan. He is very smart, is reading several grades higher than his level, and is overall a wonderful, happy and loving kid.

We had a party for him yesterday (Saturday) at the new playground in Ringgold, and then joined our friends the Ferguson's for dinner and a Lookouts game in Chattanooga. Alina and Cal worked hard to prepare the party site.

Dinner at Big River Grille:

Today, we gave him his presents and are going to have some fun at the Edge family's pool this afternoon.

This morning, Mac tried out one of his birthday presents, a set of Batman wings. I believe Cal was a little scared of the transformation, but tried to play it off as a general lack of interest. He later refused to have his picture made next to Mac as the Batman!

It has been a fun weekend, but I can't help thinking of that little baby boy that first smiled at us, and then immediately threw up on us, late one cold, cold night on the other side of the world. On each of our three's birthdays, I always say a special prayer and thank those who brought them into the world, and those who helped facilitate putting us together as a family.
