Pre-Halloween Fun

This time last year it seemed that we were making the only Jack'O'Lanterns in Central Asia, which drew many strange looks from those in our apartment courtyard in Almaty, Kazakhstan. And those funky pumpkins that were much more elongated gourds than those we were accustomed to made it even more strange! This year, it's back to good old Georgia pumpkins, and with Cal a year older he got to participate!
Finally, the assembled pumpkins are displayed.

Fishing on Fredonia Mountain

Our friends the Quinn's invited us today to their cabin near Dunlap, Tennessee. We had a great time, and did some fishing. Cal is confident in his masculinity and did not mind using Alina's pink "Barbie" fishing pole! In fact, Alina caught the first and I believe the biggest catfish with that "Barbie" pole. Mac caught a big catfish as well. Here is a great shot of Alison and Cal, and another with Cal enjoying a fun swing in the woods.

A Day in Atlanta

Some photos from our trip to the World Partners Adoption annual reunion today in Atlanta. It was one year ago today that Alison and I brought Cal from the Baby House in Esik to the apartment in Almaty and for the first time he met his big sister and brother. A wonderful year!

"Carnivore: The Play"

Alina and Mac write, produce and act in a play about carnivores. Alina plays the role of "Spots," the narcissistic Cheeta who favors processed meats, and venison. Mac plays two roles, "Bat," the goat loving bat and "Spider" the, well, Cheeta-loving spider. Ominous themes of carnivorous behavior are apparent throughout the play. Note the audience interaction toward the end.

October 2007

The weather is finally starting to cool. We had a nice afternoon on our playground. Mac, Alina and Cal had a great time on the slide. Glad to see that they haven't outgrown that swing set just yet. In the first picture Cal is learning to say "cheese".
